New Malden Studios hires training and teaching space to professional instructors, coaches, personal trainers, therapists, dancers, photographers, and tutors of the physical arts. We’re fortunate to have many passionate teachers and engaged people using our facility. This page shows some of the regular activities currently taking place at the studio each week:


Kung-Fu Classes

Wing Chun Kung-Fu (also spelt Wing Tsun, Ving Tsun or Yong Chun) is a very popular martial art discipline originating from Southern China. Invented by a woman, the art emphasises the use of precision, skill and strategy to overcome an opponent, instead of pure physical strength. It is an extremely effective form of unarmed self-defence, and boasts many famous practitioners including Bruce Lee, Ip Man, and Robert Downey Jnr.

Escrima (Filipino Martial Arts)

Escrima (also spelt Eskrima, and sometimes referred to as Kali or Arnis) is a weapons-based martial art discipline originating from the Philippines. Unlike most arts, it emphasises the use of hand weapons (sticks, knives, machetes and makeshift weapons) right from the start. It is perfect for practical street self-defence, used by special forces worldwide, and can boast of being the main martial art used in all the Jason Bourne movies.

Dance Classes

Dance is a performing art form consisting of sequences of movement, either improvised or purposefully selected. Movements have aesthetic and often symbolic value, and dance can be categorized and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements, or by its historical period or place of origin.

Yoga Classes

Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India, and which spread across the western world during the late 70’s and beyond. Now mainly studied as a low-impact form of physical exercise, the practice of Yoga involves moving the body into specific poses or positions (called Asanas), and may be accompanied by meditation, breath-work, and relaxing music. It is very popular as a means of regular exercise and relaxation.

Pilates Classes

The Pilates Method is a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture. Invented by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century as a means to reform and develop the human body, it proved especially popular with dancers and gymnasts. The disciplines can be studied both with or without specific apparatus, and is today practiced extensively across the world.

HIIT Fitness Classes

HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training, and is a form of cardiovascular exercise which alternates short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. These intense workouts typically last around thirty minutes, but varies depending upon the participant’s current fitness level, and the intensity of the session. HIIT workouts provide improved athletic capacity and condition as well as improved glucose metabolism.

Massage Therapy

Massage involves working and acting on the body with pressure, movement, or vibration. It can be done manually with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, feet, or with mechanical aids such as a massage device. The treatment can promote deep relaxation and a wonderful sense of well-being. In professional settings, clients are treated while lying on a table, sitting in a specially-designed chair, or lying on a mat on the floor. The subject may be fully or partially clothed or unclothed.
